Orthodontics

Orthodontics, a special type of dentistry which deals with the diagnosis with prevention and correction of malpositioned teeth and jaws. It also helps in facial growth, known as dentofacial orthopedics. Abnormal alignment of the teeth and jaws are not odd at all; nearly 30% of the population got benifited from orthodontic treatment. Treatment can be continued for several months to a few years; it involves the use of dental braces and other appliances for slow movement of the teeth and jaws around. If the malocclusion is very severe, jaw surgery may be thought as one option. Treatment is genarally started before a person reaches adulthood since bones can more easily be moved around in children.
